Lyle Rawlings, Founder and President of Advanced Solar Products (ASP) of Flemington, NJ (www.advancedsolarproducts.com) will be a panelist and speaker at PV America East, an exhibit and conference showcasing the Photovoltaic (PV) industry. The event will be held February 4-7 at the Philadelphia Conference Center, 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA.
The panel discussion will be held from 3:00 to 4.30PM on Wednesday, February 6, in Room 121 of the Convention Center. Moderated by Laurie Riley, Communications, Sustainable, City University of New York (CUNY), the discussion will focus on the role of solar energy in disaster preparation and relief. Panelists and speakers will include Rawlings; Margaret Jolly, Distributed Generation Ombudsperson, Consolidated Edison Company of New York; and Tria Case, University Director of Sustainability, CUNY.
“In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, many communities in the Northeast found themselves without power for weeks,” says Rawlings. “Despite preventative measures, some essential services remained offline due to the failure of back-up generators. We will be discussing things like whether government should require local solar-energy back-up for certain essential services. We will also be exploring ways in which solar is currently used for disaster preparedness and how it could be used in the future.”
ASP has built over 45 megawatts of solar projects throughout New Jersey and several other states in the Northeast, enough energy to meet the needs of more than 6,000 New Jersey homes.
