SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well… A Mashwork Orange performed to a crowd of mini-fans and adults at the Village Green on Thursday night.
Last night, kicking it in orange keds and bowler hats, the band performed live versions of DJ style mashups of pop and rock classics like, “Titanium” by David Guetta, "Too Close” by Alex Clare and “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics .
A Mashwork Orange took the stage with energy to match the ultra-young and enthusiastic audience.
“It’s well organized and fun for the kids… there’s just enough food and fun on The Village Green for everyone to enjoy, especially the kids,” said Fanwood resident Rosalina Walter.
Able to hit those high notes, rumor has it that of the five band members who are all named Alex (a nod to the cult classic “A Clockwork Orange”) Alex Holla, the female lead vocalist, is a former American Idol contestant who returned to her performing band roots with A Mashwork Orange.
“I brought my daughter with me tonight to hear some live music. Last week my husband got out to The Village Green concert, he said it was great so I took my daughter this time--it’s a great time and I’m glad we get to enjoy this,” said Scotch Plains resident Tiffany Morrast.
During the band’s break, Mayor Kevin Glover went on stage to thank all the sponsors for their contributions to the concert series. Several drawings were done for raffle winnings, which included giving away four free tickets to see the Somerset Patriots, a gift certificate to John’s Meat Market and a gift basket from TheAlternativePress.com.
