NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Property owner Seyfo Hawi Realty has pulled its application to construct a 3,010-square -foot 7-Eleven store on part of an existing parking lot separating Provident Bank from Barth’s Market, located on the west side of South Street in New Providence.
As reported by TheAlternativePress.com, hearings before the Planning Board began this past spring and the application was met with resistance by government officials as well as residents who raised traffic and safety concerns.
Reached for comment regarding the applicant's decision to withdraw its application, Councilman Jim Madden told TheAlternativePress.com, "I think there may be some place in town for a 7-Eleven, but I was not a big fan of that particular location due to traffic and safety concerns I previously expressed."
