Thursday, October 25, 2012 • 12:00am
The 45th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony and “Night at the Muni “ Night Golf Event scheduled for Sunday, October 28, 2012 is now scheduled for Sunday, November 4. “Predictions for a severe storm arriving late on Sunday with rain throughout the day would put the damper on a marvelous event,” sighed Judith Josephs, Director of Community Programs. “With months of planning and a fabulous once in a lifetime Night Golf event, we couldn’t take the chance that the event could be ruined”, she added. Registered “Night at the Muni” golfers have been informed and all events planned for the original date go on.
A 45th Anniversary Ceremony and Celebration Reception is planned for 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Displays and presentations on the history of the course will be featured. Kings Food Markets and Pizza Vita Restaurants will be catering the event as Corporate Partners. There will be music and entertainment, along with a recognition of long time employees Peg Reynolds and Roland Singer. Steve Pardee, son in law of Hal Purdy, Golf Course Architect will share recollections of Hal. The course was designed by Hal Purdy, one of the nation’s premiere golf architects.
The Night at the Muni glow in the dark event will allow Summit residents, Muni Members and their guests to play 5 holes of the beautiful course in the dark. Day glow balls, cups, flags and equipment will be provided. The fee for the night golf experience is $25.00 per person. A very limited number of spots are still available as of this release. All proceeds from the event will be going to the Senior Connections Bus Service, that operates here in Summit. For information on playing golf or questions about the Summit Municipal Golf Course, please call the Department of Community Programs at 908-277-2932.
