PATERSON, NJ - Candidates who want to run in the special election for the 2nd Ward City Council must submit their nominating petitions to the city clerk's office by 6 pm today.

At least seven possible candidates had picked up blank nominating forms. They are Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman,  Joseph Atallo, Aslon Goow, Maidul Islam, Sonia Torres, Taj Uddin and Zalal Uddin.

Earlier this month, Goow's successful lawsuit resulted in the nullification of Akhtaruzzaman's May victory on the grounds that his voter registration was invalid. That left the seat vacant.
