PATERSON, NJ – Apparently, working in Paterson’s public works department has not been the safest experience for George Ivey.
On Dec. 10, 2008, Ivey told the city he hurt his lower back lifting a garbage can.
Then, on July 2, 2009, Ivey told the city he injured his arm when the truck on which he was riding backed into another vehicle and he hit his arm on its side-view mirror.
Finally, on Aug. 26, 2010, Ivey told the city he again hurt his back lifting a barrel.
As a result, Ivey is getting a $27,500 workers’ compensation settlement from the city. The payment was approved by the City Council Tuesday night.
