EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -  An enormous crowd gathered at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds Monday night August 4th to celebrate the opening night of the 76th annual Middlesex County Fair.  The great weather brought people out from everywhere, and fair officials said opening night attendance was one of the largest in recent memory. It is hoped that between 85,000 to 100,000 people will attend the Fair this year.

Attendees were able to enjoy great music in the entertainment tent, marvelous shows, a seemingly never ending assortment of food, drink, and sweets choices, games for the kids, rides, rides, and more rides, and booths manned by many of the area's merchants, and political candidates, as well as charitable organizations.

In addition, one of the hallmark features of the fair each year is to call attention to the County's agricultural heritage, and farming equipment and craft vendors were on display throughout the fairgrounds.  As importantly, both adults and children of all agers got to enjoy animals of all types and sizes, ranging from the smallest reptiles, to the largest cows and horses.

Featured entertainment this year at the fair are the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show (this reporter really enjoyed this show last night), Kachunga and the Alligator, Robinson's Racing Pigs and the Pig Paddling Porkers, "Farmer" John Forshee and the Barnyard Express, Deputy Boots and Sheriff Britches Ford Dream Camper Show, and UWA Elite Pro Wrestling.

The Fair will run throughout the rest of the week and the weekend.  Fair hours are Monday thru Friday from  5 p.m. to 11p.m, Saturday August 9 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m, and Sunday August 10 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to come out and enjoy a great time at the fair!
