2014 FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy On Display in Essex County

NEWARK, NJ - A festival-like atmosphere filled the Heavy and General Laborers Local 472 Labor Hall at 700 Raymond Boulevard, Newark, Monday, as youth and young adult soccer players posed for pictures with the 2014 FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy. The current holder of the trophy is Spain, winner of the 2010 World Cup.
Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. was on hand to pose with the Winner's Trophy. The county executive sponsored the display with Johnson & Johnson, which was also the official healthcare sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“The FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy is one of the most cherished and recognizable trophies in the world, and it’s a great honor for us to be one of the stops on its worldwide goodwill tour. Soccer is the favorite sport for many of our residents, and it’s a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our residents to see it up close,” DiVincenzo said. “Opened in 2012, Essex County Riverfront Park has quickly become a focal point of the community and provides a venue for event like this that brings our residents together,” he added.
