2013 Sussex County Teen Arts Festival To Be Held At Sussex County Community College

Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is hosting the 2013 Sussex County Teen Arts Festival.  This annual event will be held on the campus of SCCC on Tuesday, March 19th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendance is open to schools that registered, their families and teachers. An evening reception open to the public will be held on Wednesday, March 20th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. featuring visual and video student art.  There will be a performance showcase on April 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at SCCC.

 
Teen Arts presents an opportunity for 7th through 12th graders from Sussex County schools, dance schools and home schools to share their artistic talents.  The festival will feature student visual art, creative writing, video, dance, instrumental, vocal and theater. Workshops, art stations, demonstrations and performance critique sessions will also be held in different locations across the SCCC campus.
 
From March 12 - 20, a Visual Art Exhibit featuring over 600 pieces of student work will be shown in the Performing Arts Center atrium, Administration building lobby, Student Center Galleria and the C Art Gallery during college hours.
 
From March 25th – April 18th the Sussex County Community College Select Gallery Exhibit will feature student works selected by professional artists. The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council (SCA&HC) Juried Teen Arts Exhibit, which is open to the public, will be held from March 29th – April 11th at the SCA&HC Gallery on Spring Street in Newton.  A reception with Awards will be held for the student exhibitors on April 11th at 6 p.m.
 
Teen Arts will also present a Performing Arts Showcase in the theatre of the SCCC Performing Arts Center on April 17th at 7:30 p.m. The performances and videos will have been selected by the professional critiquers at the Festival. The public is welcome to attend this entertaining evening.
 
The Senior Student Arts Award Ceremony for graduating high school seniors will take place on May 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the SCCC Performing Arts Center and is open to the public. This ceremony will feature additional performances from the Teen Arts Festival.
