Bongiorno deemed the checkpoint a great success as there will now be two less drunk drivers on the road during the holiday season, as well as three less drug-impaired drivers. Bongiorno commended not only his police officers, but also the three Caldwell Auxiliary officers for their professionalism and commitment to help in the fight against drunk driving. The checkpoint was made possible through a grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
