PATERSON, NJ - The City Council on December 6 approved a $105,000 payment to the owner of a Sheridan Avenue house that was demolished without proper notice.
The house had been damaged in a 2008 fire and the city sent out a notice telling the owner it would be knocked down for safety reasons if the property wasn't repaired or secured, officials said.
But the notice was mailed to the wrong address - 10 Dale Avenue instead of 100 Dale Avenue, officials said.
So when the city wen t ahead on the demolition, the owner sued.
