$1,000,000 Capital Improvement Ordinance Approved

SPARTA, NJ- On Tuesday the Township Council approved the ordinance to fund $1,000,000 in Capital Improvements.  The funds come from the general Capital Improvement Fund and will cover the purchase of equipment for the Department of Public Works, Police and Fire Departments along with computer and Information Technology purchases.  The equiptment to be purchased includes a new street sweeper and a light tower with a portable generator.

The expenditures include Buildings and Grounds projects at the Municipal Building and for Parks and Recreation facilities.  Projects on the list include repairs to the municipal building outdoor steps along with some fencing and light control system at Station Park.  

Drainage and road resurfacing projects were funded with this ordinance as well.  The roads scheduled for resurfacing are:

  • Skyline Drive
  • Grandview Terrace
  • Continental Drive
  • Newstar Ridge (done in conjunction with PSE&G)
  • Larikat Lane (done in conjunction with PSE&G)
  • Wildcat Road
  • Sterling Hill Road
  • Kimberly Court.

According to Township Manager Bill Close, “[The ordinance] was a fully funded bond ordinance so there will be no note sale.”
