Governor Livingston High School’s Interact Club Helps Feed the Homeless
By Governor Livingston High School
11/30/2009

Members of Governor Livingston High School’s Interact Club rolled up their sleeves and slipped on plastic gloves to make over 700 sandwiches for the Morristown Mission the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

In assembly line fashion, over 100 students came together in the school cafeteria to make peanut butter and jelly, turkey, bologna, and ham and cheese sandwiches for the homeless shelter. Faculty and staff members contributed to the effort by donating loaves of bread and The Mountainside Deli donated an entire turkey, sliced into handy packages for easy assembly.

The students worked so efficiently that the entire process was completed in an hour and the sandwiches were ready for delivery. This is the third year that Interact students have been making sandwiches for the shelter, a practice that demonstrates the collaborative nature of the club and the commitment of its students.

Governor Livingston’s Interact Club is affiliated with the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club.
