Start your holiday shopping by helping to support a program for adults with development disabilities during an event hosted by Furla, the Italian luxury accessories brand. This special evening of shopping takes place at Furla’s store at The Mall at Short Hills on Thursday, December 3, from 5- 9 p.m.
Furla will donate 10% of the total sales from the evening to ECLC of New Jersey’s PRIDE Center in Chatham, a daytime enrichment program, which offers vocational training, independent living skills and more to adults with development disabilities. Light refreshments and a raffle prize are courtesy of The Hilton at Short Hills. In addition, shoppers can enjoy a 10% discount off all full price purchases.
PRIDE is part of the ECLC network of not-for-profit educational, vocational, social and recreational human service agencies serving over 600 children and adults with learning and intellectual disabilities, autism, Down’s syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. ECLC’s programs include two schools, one in Chatham and a second in Ho-Ho-Kus, and for its graduates, Community Personnel Services, which is a job placement agency, and the PRIDE program.
ECLC is celebrating 40 years of serving this special population. The PRIDE Center is ECLC’s latest program to meet the needs of graduates. Opened in September 2008, PRIDE’s primary focus for its 31 clients is vocational training which will include a shredding business that will soon be available to the public. It has been such a success that plans are underway to launch a second PRIDE center next year.
This is the second fund-raiser Furla has hosted to benefit ECLC. This year’s event will provide funds for PRIDE to purchase equipment and supplies for the center. PRIDE clients will be at the event to greet customers with a gift of note cards they personally packaged.
For more information about the FURLA event or ECLC and the PRIDE Center, contact Heather Alonge, Director of Development at 973-635-1705 ext.17 or halonge@eclcofnj.org.
