On July 23, 2009, the Arts Council of the Morris Area completed the installation of its latest juried exhibition entitled From Here...To There, featuring 30 works by 28 artists who live or work in New Jersey.
Curated by Jeanne Brasile, Director of the Walsh Gallery at Seton Hall University, the exhibit showcases these artists’ unique and highly creative interpretations of the thought-provoking theme in a very wide variety of media. Interpretations of From Here...To There reflect not only literal movement in space and time, but also the more figurative, or metaphorical movement such as a progression or transformation in physical, symbolic or psychological states.
Participating artists include Peter Aldrich (Boonton Township), Amy Becker (Madison), Gianluca Bianchino (Little Falls), Allyson Block (Old Bridge), Ann Calandro (Flemington), Frank Cerulli (Stirling), Serban Chelariu (Bergenfield), Laura Cuevas (Montclair), Marilyn Deitchman (Emerson), Ellen Denuto (Denville), Doug DePice (Secaucus), Carla Falb (Warren), Colleen Gahrmann (Spotswood), George Garbeck (Twp. of Washington), Alice Harrison (Sparta), Barbara Landes (Jersey City), Dr. Theodore Largman (Morristown), JC Lenochan (Orange), Maria Lupo (Roseland), Donald Myles (Belvidere), Lazarus Nazario (Jersey City), Alexandra Pacula (North Haledon), Joan-Marie Permison (Union), Daryl-Ann Saunders (Brooklyn, NY), Linda Steinhardt-Majzner (Caldwell), Beverly Stern (West Orange), Miriam Stern (Teaneck) and Barry Zawacki (Mountain Lakes).
The public is invited to ponder their own interpretations of From Here...To There at the free Opening Reception for this exhibit on Thursday, September 17 from 5-7:30 p.m. at 14 Maple Ave., Third Floor, Morristown, NJ.
The exhibit is open to the public Mondays-Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will remain on display until January 2010. Nearly all of the artworks are available for sale, with information provided on the free price lists in the 3rd floor lobby area.
