Business Spotlight of the Week: Karate World and Teri Danahey/Daniel Fevre of Prudential New Jersey Properties
By Michael M. Shapiro

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The 3rd annual New Providence Farmers Market is held every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. through October 28, 2009, in the front parking lot of the New Providence Municipal Building on the corner of Elkwood Avenue and Academy Street. The Market, sponsored by the New Providence Business and Professional Association, features fresh vegetables and fruits, home baked goods, and many other treats.

New to the Farmers Market this year are New Providence businesses, which will be represented at the Market each week. Up to two New Providence businesses will be featured at the Market every week to encourage residents to shop local and raise awareness about the many wonderful businesses that are located in the Borough. "The New Providence Business and Professional Association is proud to organize and sponsor the New Providence Farmers Market. We are excited to showcase New Providence’s businesses to the many customers of the Farmers Market every week," said Margaret Timony, Chairperson of the Farmers Market Committee of the New Providence Business and Professional Association.

This coming week, July 29, 2009, the businesses spotlighted will be Karate World and Prudential New Jersey Properties.

Karate World is a family owned and operated martial arts academy offering instruction for children, teenagers and adults. Black Belt instructors Rich and Michelle Brugger, who founded the school in 2005, are dedicated to patiently helping everyone who enters the program develop fitness, integrity, focus, and self-discipline in all areas of their lives. Together Mr. & Mrs. Brugger have over three decades of experience in martial arts, as well as certifications and training in fitness, nutrition, and personal protection.

The academy brings a dynamic approach to developing personal safety, personal protection strategies, and skills for local families. Their certified instructors offer free personal safety seminars covering topics such as stranger danger, child abduction prevention, bully defense, and women’s personal protection. In addition to their free workshops and martial arts programs for children, Karate World offers an innovative Thai Kickboxing program for adults.  A new "Mixed Martial Arts" class will begin in September.

Karate World is a member of the Martial Arts Teachers’ Association and the National Security Alliance’s Kid Safe Network.  Karate World is located at 1260 Springfield Avenue in New Providence, NJ. For more information please call (908) 464 – 2836 or visit their website at http://www.BeginKarate.com

Prudential New Jersey Properties is a long time real estate "resident" of New Providence occupying the corner location of the Village Shopping Center. When the Farmers’ Market opened for the season in June, however, Prudential agents Teri Danahey and Daniel Fevre added a new Prudential location – a booth each Wednesday at the Farmers’ Market. Danahey and Fevre created a comfortable "living room" under a shady tent where shoppers can sit, get out of the hot sun, visit and catch up on what’s happening with real estate. As a result, the pair has been invited to offer price opinions on the homes of several Farmers’ Market shoppers and answer lots of questions from buyers about the new homebuying incentives.

They will have handouts of:

* the latest community real estate trends

* what homes sold for

* the government incentive programs for first time buyers

* area listings

In addition, they will be doing face painting for kids from 1-6 or Hannah Montana or Spiderman ’tattoos" Their website is www.NewJerseyBestHomes.com

The New Providence Farmers Market is a Jersey Fresh Market, sponsored by the New Providence Business and Professional Association. For more information please call 908-598-2532. To join the New Providence Business and Professional Association, click here.
