More than 50 artists from northern and central New Jersey are displaying their work at the Art Upstairs Gallery in the Community Theatre, 100 South St., Morristown, during July and early August.
The juried exhibit, "M-SHAC Is Back," is sponsored by the Millburn-Short Hills Arts Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the development of local artists.
The show will be on view from July 13 through Aug. 9. The public is invited to a meet-the-artists reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 18. The gallery will be open during performances at the Community Theatre and for two hours before curtain time. Appointments to view the show at other times may be arranged by calling (973) 539-0345, Ext. 6583.
The judge for the exhibit is Dorothy Ganek, an elected member of the National Association of Women Artists, Audubon Artists, Allied Artists of America, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the American Watercolor Society. Ms. Ganek’s work, which has won numerous awards, is in such corporate collections as PSE&G, Pfizer, Bloomingdale’s, Warner Lambert, Kessler Institute, Wendy’s,. CIGNA, St. Barnabas Medical Center and Schering Plough.
The Millburn-Short Hills Arts Center, founded in 1940, has 155 members hailing from cities and towns across northern and central New Jersey, with a few representing nearby New York and Pennsylvania. They work in oil, watercolor, pastels, collage, sculpture and photography. M-SHAC organizes four or five exhibitions annually at theaters, libraries, hospitals and community centers.
