Old Guard Talk on Exchange Traded Funds, July 13
By Summit Area Old Guard
7/4/2010

Gary Gastineau will speak about Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) at the July 13 meeting of the Summit Old Guard at the New Providence Municipal Center at 10 AM. ETFs were introduced in the U.S in January of 1993. Assets of the funds have grown steadily worldwide since then to where they exceed $1 trillion. Approximately 70 percent of these funds are traded on U.S. exchanges. Mr. Gastineau will point out that these funds will replace conventional mutual funds in most investor portfolios because of the shareholder protection and tax efficiency that ETFs provide.

Gary Gastineau is a recognized expert on exchange-traded funds. He is the Principal of ETF Consultants in Summit New Jersey. He is the author of several books and articles on finance. He is a honors graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School.

All area 50-plus active men are invited to attend meetings of the Summit Area Old Guard on Tuesday mornings at the New Providence Municipal Center at 360 Elkwood Avenue. A coffee hour starts at 9:15 that is followed by a 10 AM short business meeting. Old Guard members participate in sports, bridge, hikes, trips, plays, concerts and cultural events. The Old Guard is planning a dinner cruise on the Hudson on July 22. This year marks the 80th anniversary of The Summit Old Guard. Call Don Miller at 908-464-4116 for more information or log on to the website: www.summitoldguard.homestead.com.
